College Football Hall of Fame inducts Joe Paterno

Penn State head coach Joe Paterno was officially enshrined into the College Football Hall of Fame on Tuesday, along with 13 other new members at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in Manhattan.

Paterno was elected to the exclusive club in 2006, but was forced to postpone his official induction until now due a leg injury he suffered on the sideline during a game in Madison, Wisconsin over a year ago.

Melges 32 Tune-Up Regatta

The growing popularity of the Melges 32 sailboat is evident when you look at who's competing in the second annual Melges 32 Tune-Up Regatta.

There are Volvo Ocean Race and America's Cup sailors, Olympians and national, North American and world champions from a variety of classes.

"Every boat has world-class guys," said Jeff Ecklund, a Melges 32 national champion and the defending Tune-Up champion who helped organize the regatta, which is being run by Lauderdale Yacht Club.

Huskies crushed by Cowboys blitz

Oklahoma State shot 58.2 percent from the field Saturday as it routed the Huskies, 96-71, in front of 9,386 fans at Gallagher-Iba Arena in the inaugural Big 12/Pac-10 Hardwood Series. UW committed a season-high 20 turnovers as it fell to 4-3.

Minnesota Twins want to include Phil Hughes in trade offer for Johan Santana

There were indications last night that after extensive internal debate, the idea of offering Hughes had gained momentum within the Yankees’ hierarchy. The Yankees hope that packaging Hughes with center fielder Melky Cabrera and another prospect will be enough to acquire Santana, who would then have to approve a trade, probably by receiving a huge six- or seven-year contract extension.

After weeks of resisting the idea  of including Phil Hughes in a trade offer, the Yankees may be changing their stance.
